Allergens & Warnings
Only administer to infants and toddlers diagnosed with proven vitamin B6-nonresponsive homocystinuria or hypermethioninemia under medical supervision. Must be supplemented with protein and fluid in prescribed amounts to completely meet methionine and water requirements. Not intended as the sole source of nutrition. Not suitable for intravenous use. Never warm the formula in a microwave oven to avoid serious burns. Do not boil the mixture or use terminal sterilization methods. Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be given to premature infants or those with immune issues without guidance from a pediatrician. To fulfill the nutrient requirements of the infant or child, infant formula, breast milk, or additional food choices must be provided to meet protein and methionine needs. These can be incorporated into the Hominex-1 mixture or prepared separately as instructed. Preparation instructions may vary based on individual patient needs and should be directed by a physician.
